Great Blanket for babies and toddlers
This is my 5th Swaddle Design blanket, I think they are wonderful. The only reason that I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because the edges of the blankets are stitched in lovely wool, but if anything with velcro touches it, it causes it to pull and fray the stitching. I wish it was made of another material. My son's bibs always need to be washed separately to avoid this mishap. Otherwise these blankets are amazing, they are large, tastefully designed, and makes me a swaddling master.

I bought the other design of same Swaddeles receiving blanket as the same time. Somehow, this design's fabric is harder than another one (Fuchsia Little Hearts). I recommend Fuchsia Little Hearts more than this.

Loved it
My son was huge at birth and around 2 months started to get fussy in the evenings. I discovered that swaddling helped but had a hard time finding a blanket big enough. The Ultimate Swaddling Blanket was perfect. Unlike some of the other swaddling products that can only be used to swaddled it's actually a functioning blanket as well. Now we don't swaddle him any more but we still use the Ultimate Swaddling Blanket to cover him up. It's the perfect weight for covering him up without him getting too hot.

2 1/2 Year Old Still Uses It!
I have to add my own comment here to let you know how great these blankets are. They get softer the more you wash them. They are so soft and comfortable! When my daughter was a baby, swaddling was easy and effective. Now that she is a toddler, these blankets are still her blanket of choice. Because of the large size, she is able to use it as a regular blanket in her crib.
These blankets also come packaged pretty - just like in the picture - and in a clear wrap. I think they are a great new baby gift. Enjoy!

We tried other swaddling blankets but this is the only one we use. We received it as a gift and bought two more. The fabric is the perfect weight for swaddling--large and tightly woven enough to hold our squirmy 9-pound-newborn baby firmly and warmly (not too warmly), soft enough that you feel good wrapping your baby in it (the organic cotton helps, too). If you have a strong baby, then don't waste your time with blankets made of T-shirt material, waffle weave, or the like; they stretch too much and baby's arms will be out in no time. A nice feature is that this blanket has a tag, well-placed out of the way of baby's face, that shows how to swaddle your baby in three easy steps (useful if you need a gentle reminder in your haze of sleep deprivation). The soft pile does thin a bit with multiple washings, but only slightly.

After debating whether or not to spend the lil extra for a receiving blanket, I decided to purchase the Swaddledesigns in this oh, so cute print. Most of Swaddledesigns receiving blankets are either very mod, very loud or too plain. This print is light and perfectly matches with our ivory/brown/green/splash of pink bedding set. The blanket is very soft as well. I plan to use the blanket to swaddle and in the stroller....this might become her security blanket!

Nice Quality!
I have to say the price of this swaddle blanket is expensive compared to Carters Brands or other brands usually purchased at Babies R Us. However, after receiving it in the mail, I washed it to prepare it for use prior to my babies arrival. I noticed that the carter's brand immediately faded and the fabric felt rough. I had washed this Swaddle Designs blanket in the same load as the Carter's brand and noticed that it stayed soft and the color did not fade. So I'm guessing those cheaper ones won't last too long. I used the Dreft detergent for all my baby stuff and I can definitely say, this product is just higher quality and worth it for long term use.

I do highly recommend it if you have extra money to spend I would buy at least one. Seeing as to how it seemed to withstand washes versus the Carter's brand which immediately faded and became rough after 1 wash!

One great, one disappointing.
I bought two of these swaddle blankets while pregnant and they are quite large and were very soft. I used them to swaddle my baby while we were still in the hospital and, since he was born in the winter, the thickness of the blankets was great. However, after a few washes one of the blankets became rough and coarse while the other stayed soft, though not as soft as when it was new. So its a toss up- they are great blankets and wonderful for swaddling, but for the price you should not have to worry about getting a dud. I would like to get another for a friend but I'm afraid it could just become a floor covering like our lemon. I'm going with Aden & Anais instead- I have a couple of their swaddle blankets and they are top notch!

One great, one disappointing.
I bought two of these swaddle blankets while pregnant and they are quite large and were very soft. I used them to swaddle my baby while we were still in the hospital and, since he was born in the winter, the thickness of the blankets was great. However, after a few washes one of the blankets became rough and coarse while the other stayed soft, though not as soft as when it was new. So its a toss up- they are great blankets and wonderful for swaddling, but for the price you should not have to worry about getting a dud. I would like to get another for a friend but I'm afraid it could just become a floor covering like our lemon. I'm going with Aden & Anais instead- I have a couple of their swaddle blankets and they are top notch!

Forget the swaddling blankets with velcro
This one is the only one worth its price. Comes with easy to follow instructions sewn right onto one side.

I love this blanket. First of all, it's the right size for swaddling 40" by 40", and the weight is just right, a soft, light flannel that wraps baby up to be toasty and warm, but doesn't overheat, even for summer babies.

When I had my first child, I was easily frustrated by how quickly he broke free of his swaddle. For my second child, I found this blanket, and he never broke free. I used it for him and my third, and I give these to all my friends and relatives who are expecting. (I'm a bit of a swaddling zealot...pair this blanket with Harvy Karp's book or DVD "The Happiest Baby on the Block" -- it works!)

I always kept two on hand, for when one was in the wash.
